The above views, are of a large flat that Burdell set into the ground for a client.  When properly placed, all boulders, whether they are flats, or regular boulders, should appear to be coming out of the ground.   As you view the various angles of the above flat, it appears as it normally would in a field.  They should never be just set on the ground.  We always dig them in.

The interesting fissures and inclusions in these rocks, make them ideal for waterfalls, stonescapes, and focal points.   They add texture, and contrast to the landscape.  These rocks are extremely hard, and often you will find lichens on them.  The colors range from pink to purple, with the majority being of a rosecolor.    When these boulders are placed along a pathway, they also serve as seating.

When these rocks are wet, the color is enhanced.
